The news of the film industry, challenges of practical and theoretical film processes have presupposed the main themes and discussions of SCA DIRECTIONS film industry event in Scanorama. We have encouraged film creators to improve their practical skills, pitching, to prepare for co-production projects, discuss relevant legal and copyright topics.

SCA DIRECTIONS have created a chance to get to know already acknowledged authors as well as starting debutants, whose very first works caught attention in international festivals.

This year, SCA DIRECTIONS will touch upon the most relevant production questions as well as invite to workshops of prominent film creators where we will together raise important questions regarding modern film processes.

SCA DIRECTIONS are inviting to an open discussion “Casting Across Borders”, during which the representatives of “The Casting Society of America” Nancy Bishop and Kim Swanson will share how local actors could explore the possibilities worldwide and how directors, producers and casting specialists could do casting more efficiently. Kristina Kolytė, Dalia Survilaitė and Donatas Šimukauskas will also share their experience in the field.

Margarethe von Trotta, considered to be the motive force for the new German wave, will share her thoughts on the creative work, Ingmar Bergman and experience in film industry in her master workshop “Life and Works of Margarethe von Trotta”.

An invitation to the master workshop “Auteur Film Today: Finding Way to Viewer” comes from a director of subtle auteur films, a participant in Berlinale’s Competition, Thomas Stuber. Guests from Norway, director Camilla Strøm Henriksen and producer Gudny Hummelvoll will share their challenges experienced during the production of the debut film Phoenix (Føniks) in “The Creative Challenge of Debut”. The film was partly shot in Lithuania and achieved great success.

All SCA DIRECTIONS events will be held in English. The events are open to all film professionals as well as those who would like to become them.
