Nicolas Roeg

Nicolas Roeg was born in 1928 in London. When he was 19 years old, he started working in film industry as editing apprentice and worked his way up to cinematographer in twelve years. He went to shoot films for such directors as François Truffaut, John Schlesinger or Richard Lester. Roeg made his directorial debut with Performance in 1970. During the decade he produced his best known works: Don’t Look Now (1973), The Man Who Fell to Earth (1976), Bad Timing (1980). Roeg established himself as innovative and influential director challenging conventional film narration.
