Borgman’s arrival in the tree-lined avenues of an exclusive residential area is the beginning of a series of unsettling events around the carefully constructed facade of a wealthy couple, their three children and their nanny.

Alex van Warmerdam

Alex van Warmerdam is Dutch director, writer, actor, add composer, painter and designer. He was born in 1952, studied graphic design and painting at Amsterdam’s Gerrit Rietveld Academy. He made feature debut in 1986 with Abel, which won the Critics Award at the Venice Film Festival. The Dress (1996) won both the FIPRESCI Award at Venice and the Dutch Film Critics’ Award at the Netherlands Film Festival. Success continued with his 1998 film Little Tony which was selected for Un Certain Regard at Cannes and nominated for European Film Awards. Waiter (2006) and The Last Days of Emma Blank (2009) won both public and critic acclaim at international festivals.
